"Grey skies and torrential down pours were forecast for the day of the Maidstone Community Mela on Sunday 8th September however the weather couldn’t stop the festivities which annually brings people together to celebrate diversity and unity. Cohesion Plus once again produced the festival working in partnership with the Maidstone Cultural Group and community partners. The event was supported by Arts Council England and Kent Equality Cohesion Council. Despite the heavy downpours those in attendance were able to enjoy a free artistic programme of performances ranging from community led arts and dance groups such as Maidstone Gurkha Nepalese Community, Maidstone Indian Association, Maidstone Malayalee Association and Kerala Culture Association."
We are grateful for the generous donation of high-visibility vests from Barratt Homes to support our litter-picking efforts for the local community.
Despite the inclement weather, everyone enjoyed the event, embracing the community spirit. We are grateful for the event organiser MGNC Chairman Mr Mohan Tamang and Executive Committee members. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to event facilitator Mr Glen Millbery and Mr Mohan Thapa from Sutton Valence School and to Stand OICs Mr Subash Rai, Iswor Rai, Netra Rai and Dilli Rai.
